Liz graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy) from the University of Manitoba, Canada. She went on to complete in-depth post-graduate study while working in both Canada and New Zealand, with a focus on diagnosis and management of orthopaedic musculo-skeletal problems.
Her working career of over 30 years includes 5 years at a University Hospital in Edmonton and over 25 years in private practices in Vancouver, Auckland, Nelson and here in central Richmond. Originally the clinic was solely run by Liz, and over the years it has grown to include four talented physiotherapists and two part-time reception staff.
I’ve always been fascinated by the interaction of the skeleton, muscles and nervous system. This has been the focus of post-graduate physiotherapy study over my career.
After gathering the history of the patient’s problem, I enjoy the challenge of using evidence-based assessment techniques to get to the source of the trouble they are having.
Relieving someone’s pain or discomfort and seeing them get back to the activities they love, whether it’s high level sport, simple day to day living or enabling them to return to work, is a satisfying way to spend a day.
I have always enjoyed sports participation and love the outdoors. Over the years I have evolved from being a University competitive swimmer to competitive Harrier Runner. I like nothing better than a long trail run, a tramp in the hills or activities with my husband and now grown up children.
