Nikki graduated in 1994 from the University of Otago. She spent five years working at Waikato Hospital and at this time gained her physiotherapy acupuncture registration. She then spent a year working in private practice, before heading back to Dunedin to do her Masters of Physiotherapy (endorsed in sports). During this time she was team physiotherapist for the Otago Under-21 Netball Squad.
Nikki then traveled to South East England, working in a large hospital trust as a senior physiotherapist and then as an extended scope physiotherapist, working alongside orthopaedic consultants.
My key areas of interest include treating musculoskeletal injuries; acute injuries, sports injuries and chronic pain. This has been a post-graduate focus for me and inspired me to complete a Masters of Physiotherapy qualification, endorsed in Sports, from Otago University. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of athletes & sporting codes.
Pilates exercise instruction is another area of interest. Pilates exercises can help people recover from injury, weakness and stiffness. This in turn helps people to manage their pain, improve their function and reduce risk of re-injury. I am also experienced in antenatal and post-natal Pilates.
As a registered physiotherapy acupuncturist I have an additional tool to help treat and aid recovery in conjunction with regular physiotherapy.
Coming from the deep South I love sunny Nelson days and the outdoors – the garden, beach, running, walking and kayaking. I love spending time with my family and teaching my kids what a fabulous place NZ is.
